When Thomas the Tank Engine was first introduced, little boys went crazy, and their parents realized that they were going to have to indulge their young children’s fantasies by getting toys that went with the Thomas world. There are a number of toys that you can get for children who love Thomas, but the most popular is, of course, the railway set that can be added to. The Thomas & Friends Farewell at the Docks Set is an addition that can be connected to the tracks which is special in a number of ways.
What Is It?
This great train set is a set that stems from a story about Thomas. One day Thomas and Spencer, two of the main characters are racing around in the hills when they find a very old engine. This engine comes from Japan and used to be one of the oldest and most powerful engines to exist on the island. Unfortunately the engine, named Hiro, has fallen into disrepair. Thomas and his friends show how it is good to be friendly when they help to restore Hiro so that he can once again be the master of the railway. He decides to leave and when he does, the docks in the story are decorated for a going away party.

This set is the docks that are decorated for the going away party. They are designed to look just like the docks in the story did with a few little extras, including the fact that Sir Topham Hatt actually recognized each engine by name whenever they chug past him.
Why Children Love It
Children, especially little boys, love everything that there is to do with Thomas, and the sets that have engine recognition technology, which is what allows Sir Topham Hatt to be able to recognize each train as it goes by, is especially fun for young children and can help to get them into the world of imaginative play. Thomas & Friends Farewell at the Docks Set certainly measures up in the area and ios one of the top toys 2010.
Why Parents Love It
While the fact that the toy does run on batteries was a bit annoying for some parents, the amount of enjoyment children got from the toy made up for the batteries that had to be purchased. This toy brought literally hours of enjoyment to the testers and their children and was very easy to connect to the other sets.
The Verdict
Children who love Thomas will most certainly love to get their hands on the Thomas & Friends Farewell at the Docks Set, especially if they have seen the very special episode which talks all about Hiro and how the trains helped him to regain his former glory and former status.
