“Powered by Friendship”, Fijit Friends had my daughter very curious when we first saw it in the box. Our friend, Sage, is light green with two big ‘leaf-like’ ears and comes packing a ‘can-do’ attitude. The back story is that a gooey science experiment was brought to life by the power of music. Flubber meets American Idol?
Fijit Friends: Out of the Box!
In a very nice change of pace, this toy was actually easy to get out of the box. After slitting the tape on the access points there was 3 small twist knobs that secured little Sage to the box. it took just a few twists and out popped this soft smiling face.
What do you want to do now?
My daughter loved how soft and pliable the body of the Fijit Friend is. The head and ears are solid plastic, but the skin is gooey and you can stretch and press it, which she loved. As soon as Fijit is on she is ready to interact starting with ‘What do you want to do now?’ There is a list of voice command/responses you can reply with to get her to tell jokes or laugh. But if you just let her sit still she will try different ways to interact every 20 or 30 seconds. My daughter was laughing at the knock-knock jokes and grooving when Sage was dancing and singing. She also loved poking her in the belly for a variety of responses.
Dad’s Final Fijit Friends Review
This is a fun toy that made us both laugh. The biggest downside of Sage was that it doesn’t always pick up the voice commands unless you speak very clearly in a lower tone. This made it harder for my daughter to always get a response with her quieter and higher pitched voice. But, after you get the hang of it Sage just keeps going. Plus she tries to interact even if you stop answering. Also the facial expressions and body movement are all very fun. There is a ‘home’ button on the head in case you can’t get Fijit to acknowledge what you are saying in a particular sequence which I found helpful.
Would I Buy Fijit Friends for my daughter?
You bet. This is a great toy that should really appeal to kids in the 6 and up group. It is funny and entertaining without being gender specific. You can easily see how it would entertain one or more kids at a time with its’ silly antics.
