The FurReal Friends franchise has been a wildly successful one. Children love the ability to be able to love and care for pets that are furry and cuddly and which will love them back, while parents love the fact that the animals are mess-free. Until now most of the animals have been domesticated animals that were available for purchase. Now, however, children who have dreamed of having an exotic animal to love and play with can make their wish come true.

A Wonderful Elephant
Children can now have an elephant in their room. FurReal Friends Zambi is an exotic elephant who was designed to make children giggle and laugh. Like other animals from this line, Zambi is more than meets the eye. He’s not just a stuffed animal that children can cuddle, he actually interacts with children who own him. This beautiful elephant has sensors on his trunk, chest, and back which help him to respond to children in a variety of ways. Pushing various sensors makes him move his trunk up and down, make the classic elephant trumpeting sound, as well as chewing sounds, and he can even wiggle his ears. A few more sensors pushed and he will curl his trunk around objects such as a finger and will even blow kisses.
The artwork that is found around the outside of this baby elephants ears is artwork that was designed by African children. Also included in the package is a bracelet that has the same drawings and designs that you will find on the toy’s ears.
A Great Cause
One of the best things about FurReal Friends Zambi isn’t that it is extremely fun to play with or cuddle with, it’s the fact that for every one that is purchased, Hasbro will donate 50% of the profit to the Hasbro Children’s Fund. This fund was created in order to help improve the lives of children who are living in Zambia and who have been orphaned by AIDS. The company has pledged to donate a minimum of $500,000 to the fund.
It’s great to find a toy that children can enjoy like FurReal Friends Zambi, but it’s even better to find a toy company that is willing to draw attention to a cause that is important to them and that is also willing to donate to help as much as they can. This is one toy that can be described as being a “socially conscious” toy.
