The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass DS is a continuation of the much celebrated Zelda series. Link and Tetra are back and continuing the adventure they started in Wind Waker in this Legend of Zelda DS game. A fog rolls over the position of Link, Tetra and the pirates under their command and when the proverbial dust settles, Link finds himself all alone on a desert island and you find yourself at the start of yet another exciting adventure in the Zelda universe.
However, this time things are different as they tend to be with all Nintendo DS games. When you play The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass DS, you will have at your disposal the stylus tool that comes with Nintendo DS games and systems. You can use this stylus to your advantage, tapping different parts of the screen to get Link to move there and sweeping the stylus around quickly to control the thrust of a sword in a way that you were never able to do in previous games. You can even specify a specific path for Link’s boomerang, sending it careening around with deadly accuracy. All of these options are available to you when you play Legend of Zelda DS games and just as is true with most of the best toys around, these options are exclusive to these games.
Zelda has long been one of the top toys in the world of kids toys, but what makes it one of the best toys on a consistent basis is the fact that it controls eye-catching action and blends it together with compelling storylines to create a fantastic game. When the player gets tired of the storyline, the action is there for them and when they get tired of the action they get a chance to experience another jump ahead in plot. This formula has worked very well for Zelda, creating many of the top toys in their eras as a result. While this game is not there yet, it certainly has the potential to win a few awards along the way in various kids’ toys categories.
