In recent years, people from age eight to age eighty have been finding themselves being sucked into at least one of the many games that combine the popular LEGO toys with some of the most memorable Hollywood film franchises. In fact, you or someone you know has probably spent countless hours collecting every LEGO piece in games like LEGO Star Wars or LEGO Indiana Jones. Well, now the LEGO franchise is going in a new direction with LEGO Batman for the Nintendo DS.
Unlike previous LEGO titles that are based off of movies, LEGO Batman tells an original story inside the Batman universe that has you, as The Dark Knight, facing off against some of his greatest foes. Throughout the game you and your sidekick, Robin, battle the likes of The Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, Catwoman, Man-Bat, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Bane, Clayface, Scarecrow and The Penguin through 36 distinct, original levels. Thankfully, you and Robin won’t be alone. You’ll be able to enlist the help of fellow DC Heroes like Nighthawk, Nightwing, and Commissioner Gordon in this kid’s toy.
With the help of Batman and his allies, you are tasked with hunting down and capturing the likes of Joker and Two-Face after they, along with almost every other villain in Gotham, escape from Arkham Asylum. Through those 36 levels, you will punch and kick your way through countless LEGO henchmen as you work your way towards one of the many villains. Each villain has their own scenario to play through. For instance, on Catwoman’s level, you are trying to chase her down after she makes off with a priceless diamond. When you fight the Joker, it’s because he’s kidnapped Commissioner Gordon.
LEGO Batman is rated E for Everyone, meaning that it’s one of the best toys for the whole family.
