Expected to be one of the sought after Christmas toys for 2010, the Mattel Radica FAMPS is geared toward girls. FAMPS stands for feelings, attitudes, moods, and personalities. Intended for girls age 6 to 12 years these characters allow you to use software on your PC or MAC to express your emotions with the use of games, screensavers, and emoticons. You can makeover your IM, create email stationary, and decorate your desktop and also create e-cards, wallpapers, and avatars based on your feelings, attitudes, moods, and personalities so you can share this information and fun activities with your family and friends. There is even a photo editing tool. Your computer will get an emotional makeover! Social networking with its connecting, expressing, and sharing aspects is the norm for this age group these days and it has never been so much fun as it is with these characters.
The Mattel Radica FAMPS starter set includes the software, a mood bangle that attaches to your computer, one FAMPS figure, a lanyard, and a charm. There are many different figures available each reflecting a different emotion. Some of the emotions include Happy, Shy, Sassy, Hyper, Sad, Scared, and Creative. They can be used as key chains or displayed in your room. You will want to collect them all or have them available for trading with your friends. Your friends and family will know immediately what your mood is if you carry a specific one as a key chain or attach it to your back pack expressing the mood you are in on that day.
The custom start kit includes one character, the mood bangle with attached USB port that you plug into your computer, and the software. Just attach the mood bangle to your PC or MAC and place your character inside the ring. Your computer identifies which character is in the ring and what emotion she is expressing. Your computer screen immediately changes to represent that mood. Then the computer automatically suggests things you can do that are related to that character’s personality and emotion. There are games, e-cards, and avatars that correspond with each separate personality. A friends list is compiled and allows your child to connect with those friends of hers who also have FAMPs. Parental controls can be set to limit your child’s access but still allow them to be on the computer. It is also neat to be able to get on the website to play the games that are available, take a quiz to help determine which FAMP you are, and get information on all of the FAMPs characters and emotions.
You can add other characters which are available in single, twin, and custom kits. The custom kit includes 6 different characters. Along with starting a collection of very cute characters, your child will be given the confidence to express her feelings and this will in turn help develop her social skills. The activities also help develop both reading and writing skills but keep your child on safe sites on the internet. These kids toys are sure to be a hit with your daughter and all of her friends.
