Recommended for ages 3 and up, how could anyone not like the Sing-A-Ma-Jigs? There are several of these delightful plush toys to collect, available in a variety of colors. Each one has its own scale, whether high pitch or low pitch, and they were designed to harmonize well together. Try one out or get more together and see what kinds of sounds your new choir can make.
Chatter, Sing, or Harmonize
There are three ways to play with this Mattel product: squeeze their left hand to hear them chatter; squeeze their tummy to hear what they have to say and/or they sing their own song; or when squeeze their tummies appropriately, they will harmonize with their friends. When they chatter, they don’t speak words: they jibber and jabber and make their own kinds of noises unique to them. Their mouths are shaped as “O’s” so you know they are ready to talk or sing. When they open their “O” mouths to sing, you can also see their tiny teeth and a cute tongue inside. No matter how many of them you get together, they are in perfect harmony every time they sing along together. Two batteries, not included with the toy, are required for its performances. The battery compartment is located in the back of the animated character.
Colors and Designs
In our Sing-A-Ma-Jigs review, we found the colors and dress of these characters to be “crazy,” “zany,” “wacky,” “eye-catching,” and “out of the ordinary,” just to use a few adjectives. They are certainly different and have shown to be of great interest to little eyes. You can’t help but smile when you see and hear these creatures singing solo or all together.

Musical Talent
If your child loves to sing, the Sing-A-Ma-Jigs can be just the ticket to get them started singing. Your child can sing along with these unique characters and their ears can also pick up the different pitches of sounds they make. It is a fun toy; it is designed to make children happy. By collecting more than one and hearing them as they harmonize, your child may be able to pick up on the various sounds and pitches that can prove useful later to them.
Is It Annoying?
Like any other toy that has repetitive tendencies to it, our internal Sing-A-Ma-Jigs review determined that it is possible for parents to come to the conclusion that they’ve heard the songs one too many times. That was about the only negative response to come from our survey and tests. But wouldn’t you rather your child be happily singing along with one of these characters than crying? These colorful musical characters bring “happy” in a nutshell, just by merely looking at the wacky way they are dressed, with their “O” mouth ready to belt out the next tune. When they sing out loud, and especially when they harmonize, they are a delightful treat to young ears. (Parents can always take the batteries out for a few days if they get really tired of a particular tune.)

The Songs They Sing
Besides the ability to harmonize together well, each character has their own special songs to sing. Red sings “Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone?”, the yellow one sings, “Home On The Range,” blue sings, “When The Saints Go Marching In,” and Pink sings “Skip To My Loo.” You can control the tempo of the song by pressing their tummies faster or slower when you are in the “song” mode.
Features
There is no power on/power off button on these toys, but they will shut down automatically if they are not being played with for 12 seconds or so. Depending on which model you have, they will say the phrases, “See You Later,” or “Bye Bye” to let you know they are shutting down.
Our Sing-A-Ma-Jigs review found no problems with this toy. It is extremely adorable and loved by those not just three years old. If you do get an entire choir together, you will need more than two hands to get them all going at the same time.
