We think Fisher Price Rock Star Mickey is the perfect answer to the 2010 Dance Star version of our favorite mouse, and rumor has it he will be the most popular toy of the season. Any way you look at it, it’s the one item your little one is going to want under your tree this year.

One Talented Mouse
Most of the Fisher Price Rock Star Mickey reviews we’ve read carefully list out the vital statistics, so we’ll go ahead and add that in too. He’s more than thirteen inches tall, and he weighs about two pounds. That said, though, not very many of them mention that this isn’t quite as cuddly as many plush toys. His coverings are fairly soft, but the inner body is fairly hard, and with good reason. After all, he has to be solid enough to perform an entire routine for your little one.
We think that what he lacks in snuggle-ability, he completely makes up for in rock-ability. Just press his foot, and he starts jamming on his guitar with two amazing songs: both “You Really Got Me,” and “The M to the I,” a Mickey original.

Features
For us, one of the most exciting features, and the reasons it’s one of the best toys 2011 has to offer is the dance lessons. They’re a good way for kids to interact with the toy, especially your smaller ones. What’s more is that those lessons really give them a chance to express themselves, and you’re likely to laugh as much as we did when your little one tries out his or her new moves.
The other thing we really liked about this is the creativity that went into the moves themselves. We were initially expecting Mickey to strum the guitar, but we were surprised when he went so far as strumming the guitar with his nose. When he threw the Mickety-Split into the mix too, we realized this was an amazing toy for its size. All of the moves are probably likely to keep your little one more interested in him for a bit longer too.
Lots of toys claim to be designed for toddlers, but this one has a pretty good age range that actually does apply. Fisher Price says it was made for kids as young as twenty-four months, and you can see that as soon as you take it out of the packaging. All you have to do is push its foot to turn it on. It even comes with batteries, initially. This level of simplicity is perfect, because even your two year old will get it immediately.
Durability
One thing we noticed right away is how durable it is. Every item we’ve seen from this company have always been built kid-tough, and this one is little different in that regard. There aren’t any loose parts, though you can lift his sunglasses up and down, so you don’t have to really worry about choking hazards with this one. Even if your child drops him, he should survive the fall from your coffee table. Any Rock Star Mickey review is likely to tell you that both the fabric coverings and plastics used to make him seem very tough.
A Few Things to Keep In Mind
There are a lot of good points we found about this toy, but there are a couple of things you’ll want to remember before you put it on your best toys 2011 list. First, this toy is not quiet. In fact, it doesn’t even have a volume switch. That can make it kind of tough to play with and if you have littler ones sleeping at the same time, because Fisher Price Rock Star Mickey certainly doesn’t hold out when he begins to belt out the tunes. He’s very loud and aggressive for a kids toy, and while that can be a positive feature at times, in other cases, it’s certainly a drawback. Also, don’t forget, there are just two songs, and for us, they got old in a hurry. As soon as you hear it, you’ll know that squeaky mouse voice, and so will your children, so they’ll immediately identify with him, even if they will know both songs by heart shortly after they turn him on.
What We Liked
• Tough enough to survive a drop on the floor or two by a little one.
• Moves well on almost any hard surface and even low pile carpeting.
• Easy for little ones to operate.
What We Didn’t Like
• There’s no volume control of any kind.
• He only plays two songs for you.
Any Fisher Price Rock Star Mickey review should probably mention that this is great for a collector as well as a little one. It’s the perfect piece for anyone who loves the different incarnations of this character.

My daughter got this for her 3rd birthday. I was sick of it after an hour *haha* but she absolutely LOVES it. She was dancing with Mickey. Her doing the splits was hilarious!
