Need a good way to help your child get rid of all his excess energy and learn something at the same time? The Fisher-Price Smart Fit may just be the solution you are looking for. This system connects straight to your TV with a set of cords and requires only the mat to function. (The mat does need 4 AA batteries which are not included.) No need to load a DVD or game to be able to see the characters on your TV screen. Intended for children ages 3 to 6, it teaches numbers, letters, colors, and shapes with the use of games, music, races, and timed challenges. Set up is very simple. Just plug the mat into your TV and it is ready to go. Even young children can do it. Since it is so easy to do, your child will be able to play whenever he wants to without needing your help.

The goal of these kids toys is to help children learn and also keep them physically active. “Get up, Get smart, Get going!” is the catchy phrase attached to this line of toys.

The mat includes 8 different modes of activities with 18 challenges, games, and races that are responsive to walking, running, jumping, and stomping. The faster your child moves the faster the characters move on the screen. They also respond to lateral movement which is an exceptional feature. Another really neat feature is that your child can customize the on-screen characters themselves. Your child will love the fact that these on-screen characters are also able to interact with them.

The Fisher-Price Smart Fit will help your child learn their letters, learn to spell, learn their numbers, learn to counting, identify shapes, identify colors, enjoy music, learn to add and subtract, and develop better motor skills. They will enjoy participating in a scavenger hunt to find letters, the marching band to work on fast and slow motion activities, playing hopscotch math to do simple math problems, and the final race to see if they can beat their on-screen friends. Other games include paddle splash, the jump rope challenge, an obstacle course, and “Let’s explore.”

The mat itself has the alphabet printed along the left and right sides, numbers 1 through 10 along the bottom with a picture of a sidewalk down the middle. It also has a picture of a swing in a tree on the left side, a picture of a slide on the right side, and a red circle, orange square, yellow triangle, and blue star on the top. The bright colors make the mat kid friendly.

The first activity on the Fisher-Price Smart Fit is a warm-up session that includes four learning games and three timed challenges. Using music and a variety of learning activities your child will have fun getting ready for the final race. The movements involved help your child learn the moves that are needed to play all the games included in the mat.

Mom and Dad will be pleased to know that the mat is made of plastic and can be wiped clean with a dry cloth. The mat will fit in almost any space being 33 x 28 x 1.5 inches making it one of the top toys your children will want to play with.

This item will turn any room in your house into a place to learn. It is easy to see that this toy will be one of the top toys for Christmas 2009. Fisher-Price has done it again, found an inventive way for your child to learn and have fun at the same time.

Hyper Blast is a game that will keep your kids active and excited while challenging their growing minds. Kids stand around the circular toy and stomp on the ‘blast pad’, sending five different colored, numbered balls sailing. The speaker on the launch pad calls out which of the five numbers to run and pick up. Kids have to return the numbers to their correct slots in the base pad quickly to receive their next command regarding what to do with the numbered balls.

Hyper Blast is created for kids age six and up, and can be played in many different ways. It can be played inside the house or outside, and can also be played in teams with friends, or by yourself. Also, because it requires only three double ‘A’ batteries, it does not have to be plugged in or hooked to a speaker unit to work- it’s all one, fun, portable piece. That makes it ideal for play dates, class parties, and a number of other activities.

Also, as your kids’ skills of numbers and speed of movement increase and improve, the game can be adjusted to various levels of difficulty. For example, it comes with math questions such as “what is two plus one?” or “what comes between two and four?”. In both instances, children must run and pick up the ball marked with the number three and put it into the correct slot. As you increase the difficulty level, the game incorporates double digit numbers, head to head challenges, and a variety of different games in which you are racing against the clock.

Another great feature of the game is that it declares a winner at the end of each round when your kids are playing in team mode. It does this by keeping track of each player’s time and choosing the fastest, which is the winner, at the end. This is a great feature because it not only allows your kids to play without keeping track of time or points, but also eliminates any possibility or squabbling or disagreement over who won the game.

This is a wonderful game for kids to play because it not only helps them learn and improve their math skills, but, unlike other games, it keeps them active as well. There are a lot of interactive games and video games on the market that are educational and fun, but most of those are not active games and require your kids to sit still for long periods of time. The Hyper Blast is a great toy for kids over the age of five or six years old, and will allow them to learn math in such a fun way that they won’t even know they’re learning!

1 – 2 – 3 Stomp is yet another game on the market that challenges kids’ minds while keeping them engaged in active play. It is based on a ‘listen – think – move’ concept that a lot of newer, more educational games are being based around, making it not only an activity, but also a way to exercise the brain.

The concept of 1 – 2 – 3 Stomp is simple and easy to understand. Kids stomp their feet to send the ten numbered balls flying, then they have to run as quickly as they can to retrieve the pieces. The game comes equipped with a speaker, which is embedded in the central launch pad. The speaker tells kids which numbers to run and pick up, and they must find those numbers and replace them in the proper slots as quickly as possible, while being timed by the built in clock. Once kids replace the numbers in their proper slots in the launch pad, the speaker reads out the next command. The next commands consist of math problems, such as “what is seven plus three?” and “what is nine plus one?” The answer to both questions is ten, so the children playing the game would run and retrieve the number ten, then place it in the correct slot when they are prompted to do so. Additional games that come programmed in the system include ‘1 – 2 – 3 Count With Me’, in which the children playing must hurry to replace the scattered numbers in ascending or descending order, whichever the speaker may command.

One more fantastic feature of the game is that it has varying levels of difficulty. In its first levels, it starts out with basic color and number recognition. As children move on to the age of understanding numbers and basic math, the game can grow with them.

This is a great game because it not only keeps your kids moving, but also focuses on early math skills. It is aimed at preschool aged children, but can be used by older kids as well. The game can be played alone or in teams, indoors or outside. Up to four players can play at any given point in time, making it the ideal purchase for a family or a play date. Also, because it requires three double ‘A’ batteries and no wires or cords, it is completely portable and can be taken from one place to another with your child. Most parents really enjoy watching their little ones play 1 – 2 – 3 Stomp. After all, it is one of the best games on the market for teaching early math, number, and color recognition skills while keeping kids active. This is one many educators and health experts alike recommend.
