What is the board game Dominion all about? You pretend you are a king or queen, in a long line of kings and queens. You rule a quaint, charming kingdom with beautiful streams and trees. However, you decide you want more than what you have and, therefore, you decide to go out and collect as much land as you can get. You want to be a king or queen over more people. You want – as the name says – Dominion over the rest of the kingdom. You want to bring civilization to them.

Dominion Intrigue is recommended for those ages 10 year and up. It is a Eurogame and can take approximately 30 minutes to play. What is included with the game? Over 250 cards, including the new 25 kingdom cards specific to this game, along with victory points, curses, coins, and what are known as “randomizer” cards. There are also a rule book and a card organizer.

Games are high points on all kids toys lists because they can be educational and informative, while they are also highly entertaining and fund.

When beginning the game, each player starts with 10-card decks that are identical. They add to their deck throughout the game through buying cards or stealing them from the main stack of cards and/or from other players. The entire game is a balance of accumulating all the right resources to purchase victory points. During this time, you will also have to defend against other players’ strategies to upset your plans and gain victory for themselves.

Dominion Intrigue adds another element to the play as they are more interactive than the basic game and are constantly requiring decisions based on cards drawn at the time. It tends to be more group-oriented, having to depend more on fellow players. It can be little more complicated and complex than the original version of the game, but that can also mean more challenges and new thought processes for those players who have already figured out all the strategies in the basic game. If you are already familiar with the base Dominion game, this slightly altered version will most probably be easy to pick up. If you have never played the base game before, you can still play this version, although you may not get quite as much out of it. Remember, this one is for group play.
