It’s gratifying for some parents to see that there are some games that simply haven’t changed, even after all of these years. Children still play tag, for instance, and they still kick and throw balls around things as well. One game that many children loved growing up was freeze tag, and it’s a game that is still played in a lot of Phys Ed classes around the world. But the people at Torx have decided that the game needed to be shaken up a bit, so they created Torx Turbo Freeze Tag.
In the Box
When you open up the box you’ll find a large multi-colored square-shaped ball and six differently colored wrist bands. That’s it! Well, and the instructions. But don’t let the simplistic things in the box fool you, just these seven things is enough for hours of playtime and is also enough to make your children get up and get active. One thing we really loved about the game is that you can change it up to be anything you want it to be, but the instructions give one basic way to play.

How to Play
The beauty of Torx Turbo Freeze Tag is that you can play it number of different ways, but there is one original way that the manufacturer intended it to be played. In order to play all you have to do is to put on a wrist band. Once two to six players have put bands on you simply flip the ball, or what is called the dice, into the air and see what color lands on top. If the color that lands on the top is the one on your wrist you run to the ball, grab it, and yell “freeze!” You then have to try to hit one of your friends in order to get their cuff. If you manage to hit them you are able to get them out and then everyone stops, the dice is thrown again, and once again the game restarts.
There are, of course, other ways that you can play. We found that you could play by flipping the dice up and the person who had the same colored bracelet as the color that landed on top of the dice had to try to outrace everyone else. If they were tagged they had to give up their bracelet. It would also be the perfect game to play in the pool as the ball is made out of a water proof foam and can easily be played with in a pool.
What We Liked
• It gets children moving
• There are many different ways to play
• Soft and squishy so that no one gets hurt
We loved that this game was a remake of the classic game and that it is easy to play with others without having to worry about hurting them. The soft foam doesn’t hurt when you get hit with it, even if you get hit by an overly excited eight year old!
The things that we disliked about this game were minor, so it’s really hard to pick on those few things, but we did dislike that there was no carrying case for the set. It would be much nicer if there were so that it could be easily transported to a friend’s house. Some sort of official Torx Turbo Freeze Tag would be a great idea, as would the ability to fold up the ball so that you can transport it even more easily!
What People Are Saying
Most people think that Torx Turbo Freeze Tag is definitely a great game, and many love that it gets children out playing again. Most won’t recommend it for children under the age of 8, but several said if you have younger children playing with it they should be fine, as long as no older children are playing with them. One mom-reviewer said you should make sure you keep the bracelets in the same spot as they’re easy to lose, and if you lose them you will have to get new ones in order to continue playing this game, as it’s sure to become a family favorite.
