Doggie Doo

There are times when you simply look at something and have to shake your head and wonder why it was ever created. Many times, however, if you actually give that item a chance you find that it’s much better than you thought. This is one thing that we were thinking when we first heard about Doggie Doo, a children’s game from Goliath Games. There was a lot of talk about this game online because of its…uniqueness. The truth, however, is that the game has been very popular over in Europe and so that alone was enough of a reason for us to give it a try.

In the Box

Open the box and you’ll see a rather cute looking plastic dog who has sweet eyes, a tongue that is licking his lips and a leash that is attached to him. The leash looks just like the retractable ones that you can use to walk your real dog with. You’ll also receive some dough and some little shovels that are, well, pooper scoopers.

How to Play

The idea is simple – be the first player to get three pieces of poop in your pooper scooper and you win. Players first need to form the dough into a “poop pellet” that will be put into the dog’s mouth. Once they have done that the put their specifically colored pooper scooper under the dogs behind and then roll the dice. The dice will tell them how many times they are to squeeze the trigger on the leash’s handle. As you squeeze the handle you hear a gassy sound coming from the dog – this is from the air that is pushing the “poop” through the dog and out to the other side. Then the Doggie Doo will go through the system and will plop onto a shovel. Be the first person to get three pieces and you win! The dice, however, can be tricky as some sides tell you to skip a turn while another has you trade a scooper with someone else.

What We Like About Doggie Doo

• Fun concept
• May make children more likely to do doggy duty in real life
• Fun for children and adults
• Comes with everything you need

We have to admit that when we first got our hands on Doggie Doo we didn’t think that there was any way that it deserved the title as one of the top toys of 2011, that is until we gave it a try. The game was much more enjoyable to play than we thought it would be. Putting the pellet into the dog’s mouth only starts the fun as you roll and hope that you have enough squeezes to get the poop onto your scoop. What made us laugh the most, however, wasn’t the poop coming out the other end but was actually the farting noises that the dog made every time you pushed the leash. The replay value of this is high as you’ll be wanting to show friends and family exactly how silly and fun this game can really be.

Okay, while we liked the concept we sort of were put off by it as well. A game based on poop? We wonder if the company could have come up with some other way to do this same game, but we also believe that Doggie Doo wouldn’t be anywhere near as funny as it is if it were different. We did have a problem with getting the poop through the pooch occasionally, however, and the instructions stay to use warm water if you’re having a problem. We wished there were some way to open him up to clean him out after play.

What People Are Saying

An unlikely choice for one of the best toys of 2011, Doggie Doo is actually much funnier than many ever thought it would be. Many parents say it’s ideal for children 4 and up but we feel the target audience should be somewhere around 4 or 5. Almost everyone, however, said this game is the best for a quick laugh, as every time you squeeze the handle you get the rewarding gassy sound that simply makes it impossible not to giggle.
