If you read almost any science fiction book you’ll invariably find a section of the story that deals with mind control and moving objects, which is known in scientific circles as telekinesis. The ability to move objects with your mind has long been the subject of great interest, but it seemed as though the only way that this would ever happen was in the far distant future. Game designers at Mattel, however, decided that the future was actually now.
Now it’s possible to move things simply with your mind, thanks to the new technology that can be found in the MindFlex game. This is a game like no other. It is not a game where you move objects along a board racing to the finish, or where you have to beat an opponent. In this unique game, the player is trying to move a foam ball around the board and through various obstacles using nothing but their mind.
How it Works
Skeptics of this title believe that the ball is only moved due to the moveable fan nozzle that holds the ball up in the air. The nozzle, however, is actually controlled by the human mind. Players put a headset on which has a forehead sensor that rests above the left eyebrow and clips that attach to the earlobes. These accessories allow the game to read the brain waves that you are sending out. It reads the brain waves and changes them into information that the game board can understand, which corresponds with the ball moving up, down, and around the board.
The Positives
MindFlex is a truly unique game for children and adults alike. The fact that you are playing only with the power of your mind is something very fun to play with, and you can select different games and keep track of your scores.
The Negatives
The only bad thing about the new MindFlex game is that it is not really a multiplayer game. Players can take turns playing and seeing who can get the best score, but it is not a game where two players can play simultaneously. This, however, doesn’t take away from the absolute uniqueness of this highly technological game, nor does it make it any less enjoyable to play. Even adults can enjoy playing this game and using it as a party game. Overall, the MindFlex reviews have been very positive.
