U-Dance

The U-Dance game is an interactive dancing game that can be plugged into your television via RCA cable to jack connection. Small sensors are strapped onto the user’s feet and communicate with the game tower, translating real time movements to dance moves on the screen.

The highly entertaining U-Dance system comes with some of the latest hits and some old favorites too. There’s everything from Chris Brown’s ‘Run It’ and Rihanna’s ‘Please Don’t Stop the Music’, to some tunes the older generations can appreciate, such as MC Hammer’s ‘Can’t Touch This’ and ‘ABC’ by The Jackson Five.

Looking for U-Dance reviews on the web may be your first step in the decision making process. One review that we found made a particularly good suggestion. That was to buy an area rug to put in front of the tower, since their daughter and her friends had come dangerously close to wearing the carpet out in a large patch in front of where the system rests.

A U Dance review written by a teenager said that he originally purchased the game tower because he didn’t have the money to buy any of the more expensive game systems, but once he got it to his room and plugged it in he was glad he bought it. He claimed that the movements were much more fluid and realistic than another game he had tried to play in the arcade at his local mall. The other game had him stomping on arrows in a way that didn’t resemble dancing at all. This interactive system gave him the freedom to swing his feet and pump his legs as he would if he was dancing at a party.

Another U-Dance review was posted by a father of twin eight year old boys who said that it was the smartest buy that he’d made in quite a while. Rather than tearing around the house, destroying everything in their paths, the two were engaging in dance battles and laughing hysterically as one or the other of them would break out a new move or fall down trying. The father added that rather than his wife and himself slumped exhaustedly on the sofa at the end of the evening, it was the boys that ended up laid out in the middle of the living room floor, chests heaving and asking for water.

Some parents decide to buy U-Dance to boost their kids’ activity levels. Most video games keep a kid planted stationary in front of the TV with his eyes locked intently on the screen, wearing calluses into their thumbs and forefingers. While these games may help to improve children’s hand eye coordination, they do little else for them. In a society where unhealthy foods and low activity in children is the norm, this system could very well be a useful tool in keeping kids above the statistics in the growing problem of childhood obesity.

Many U-Dance reviews posted by teenagers commented that their desire to learn to dance was hindered by the anxiety of looking awkward or silly in front of others. One young man expressed nervousness upon starting high school because he new that showing up at school dances would be more essential to his social survival as a freshman. He had been to dances before but was unable to shake his wallflower status because he just couldn’t build up the nerve to go out and dance. The How to Dance videos that he had bought many of left him cold because he couldn’t figure out how to make his legs do the things the instructor could. This system helped him feel more comfortable moving to the beat, and he was thankful to get the boost he needed to overcome his shyness.
