Kids love to sing, they love to dance, and they get very excited when they see themselves on a TV. The Fisher-Price Star Station gives kids a chance to be a star whenever they feel like it. We think this could be one of the best toys for 2008 because it is fun and interactive, plus it’s totally cool.
The Fisher-Price Star Station includes a base unit with a camera and several function buttons that allow kids to choose the songs they want to sing and also lets the kids change camera effects. The set also includes two microphones and a ROM cartridge that contains four kid friendly songs like “Twinkle twinkle little star” and others. You can also buy Fisher-Price Star Station songs in ROM packs to expand your child’s music library- and there is also a port on the base unit where you can plug in an MP3 player and make your child’s music selection virtually endless.
Here’s how it works. The base unit plugs into your TV, and the cords are color coded to make plugging it in so easy that a child can do it. This plug- in setup is for the connection only, and doesn’t provide power. The base unit is powered by 6 C cell batteries, so you may want to stock up on those. The two cordless microphones are powered by 3 AAA batteries each, so again, you may want to stock up. The easy to use system is equipped with Plug N Play Technology, so that’s all there is to it. Just hook up the base unit to your TV, and kids are ready to rock out. Insert a ROM pack full of songs into the port, or hook up an MP3 player, and then an on-screen menu allows your child to choose which song to sing. The unit plays the song through the TV speakers for your child to sing along to, and the microphones also send your child’s voice through the TV speakers. Kids are pictured on the TV screen as they sing, dance, and have a great time

There are a few Fisher-Price Star Station reviews out there with negative things to say about the product. These are generally things like poor picture quality, poor sound, and so on. These reviews, however, are about the first generation model of the toy. A new version was released last year, and Fisher-Price listened to the parents and what they had to say about the set. All the problems have obviously been corrected, because our staff couldn’t find a thing to complain about when we tried it out. So if you go looking for a Fisher-Price Star Station review, please keep in mind that these are old reviews and that particular model is no longer on the market.
One Fisher-Price Star Station review was written by a parent who was very happy with the toy, but wished that it came with an AC adaptor or at least an auto- shutoff function to conserve batteries. This parent brings up a good point- it is a good idea to go behind your kids and check to make sure that the unit gets turned off after the kids are finished playing with it.
Most of the Fisher-Price Star Station reviews we found were very positive, and parents seem to love watching their kids perform on TV as much as the kids like to perform. It’s much better than a video camera for the purpose, and since kids can change the camera effects remotely by pushing a button on the microphone, they can look like they are making a cool music video. To keep a record of your child’s performances, you can pop a tape into your VHS recorder and share the cute video with friends and family.
