Fisher-Price Kid Tough DVD Player

Kids are notoriously hard on toys, and electronics are no exception.  Every kid would love to have his or her very own DVD player and TV, but who can afford to replace them as often as kids are capable of destroying them?  We think we’ve found the answer in Fisher-Price’s Kid Tough DVD Player.  This thing is tough.  Our staff tried it out- we were amazed.

The Kid Tough DVD Player is actually a DVD player with its own little TV.  It is quite portable sized, and has a great handle in the top for easy carrying.  It is not heavy, so a child can carry his or her own entertainment around.  That’s another neat thing about this product- it is available in blue or in pink, so you’ll be able to tell which one is his and which one is hers.

The DVD player is equipped with rechargeable batteries, and the battery life is about two hours- long enough to watch a movie or several episodes on a favorite cartoon show on DVD.  The battery power makes it ideal for travel or for a trip through the grocery store.  In fact, one Kid Tough DVD Player review written by a mom with a two year old son said that she will no longer take her child shopping without the DVD player, because it keeps her son occupied while she shops for groceries and she doesn’t have to worry about him having a meltdown out of boredom.

The DVD player also has a wall power unit, or an AC adapter, so you can run the player without running down the batteries.  This is a great addition that makes the unit even more convenient.  One of the many Kid Tough DVD Player reviews from a dad of three says that he went out and purchased a power converter to plug into the cigarette lighter in his car, and he just plugs in the player’s wall power unit for long road trips with the kids.  He rarely hears a peep out of his children during travel time, which he considers to be a blessing.

One Kid Tough DVD Player review said that the buttons are large and the controls on the player are easy for even little kids to use.  It only takes a few times for kids to get the hang of what each button does, and from that point on, kids can control their own entertainment.  If you buy Kid Tough DVD Player for your kids, there is also a protective case that you can purchase separately to keep it clean while it’s not in use.

With a toy like this, whose main selling point is extra toughness and durability, we didn’t want to just trust the Kid Tough DVD Player reviews- we wanted to test it out for ourselves.  We dropped it on the floor from about a foot of the ground first, since this would be a small child’s hand level while carrying the player by the handle.  Then we slid it across the floor and let it hit the wall.  Then we put it up on a desk and knocked it off.  None of those impacts hurt it.  Feeling bolder, we actually lobbed it about eight feet across the room and let it hit the wall and then the tile floor.  We turned it on, expecting it to be ruined.  But to our pleasant surprise, it still worked!  This product actually does what it said it can do.  If the player is actually running and playing a DVD when it is dropped, it does tend to stop playing, but the child can simply restart the DVD.  And when we tossed it across the room, there was a DVD in it, and the DVD became dislodged- it wasn’t hard to get out though.  All in all, we feel that this product lives up to its name and is a good buy for kids.
