Here’s how it works. Each Bakugan toy starts out as a little ball, about the size of a ping-pong ball. As each Battle Ball is rolled onto the playing surface, it pops open and becomes a Battle Brawler action figure. Players then have a battle, according to the rules of the game, and can draw cards that each add a new twist to the outcome of the battle. To get started, you’ll need a battle arena (which is basically a game board), a launcher, and several Bakugan balls. You’ll also need the official rule book, which can be downloaded from the Bakugan website. To make this simpler, there are starter packs, booster packs, and other combination packs for purchase. This is handy for parents and also reduces the cost of setting a child up with all the things he needs to get started.
For Bakugan toys without the complexity of the battle game, there are also several action figures available that do not start out as balls. These are good for younger kids who want to play with Bakugan toys but aren’t old enough to understand the very involved game. Younger kids can collect the whole set of regular action figures and engage in hours of imaginative play.
Why Do Boys Love Them So Much?
Boys love rough and tumble, battle-style play. Bakugan toys allow boys to create their own team of warriors and have battles with their friends. They can collect the whole set of Bakugan (numbered in the thirties and growing) along with launchers and game boards. Also, each Bakugan comes with a playing card- another collectible item. Bakugan toys combine the dueling that Yu-gi-oh fans love so much, the hands-on play of action figures, and the rules and strategy of a board game. Each Bakugan toy has its own name and personality, along with different powers and attributes that boys will know by heart in no time. Each card opens a gate, gives bonuses to an action figure, awards points, or gives the Bakugan different abilities.
One thing that parents need to know about these toys is that they are made of plastic, and although they are built to withstand repeated use, they will break if they are mistreated. Boys should not be allowed to throw them forcefully (unless you’re in a hurry to buy a replacement), and they should certainly not be allowed to throw them at each other. They are designed for game play only, not the rougher play that is often associated with some games. That said, Bakugan toys are great for hours of sitting down playtime fun. Bakugan toys are educational and encourage kids to think and plan. Kids learn the art of strategy and learn the value of rules. Each character has attributes that can be used together to formulate battle plans and kids are required to adhere strictly to the official rule book. Boys will not think of Bakugan as an educational toy, so it may be best to keep that little tidbit to yourself.

My mom got me the battle arena, battle packand laucnher and I love them. Bakugan is such a cool toy. its a lot of fun and all my friends colllect them too.
